Many languages are spoken within the United Kingdom and Wikimedia UK aspires to support all of them within Wikimedia.

Native languages of the United Kingdom

Wikimedia UK has legal duties to support Welsh (Cymraeg) and Scottish Gaelic (Gàidhlig). The chapter also has the moral responsibility to support the other languages of the United Kingdom, because,

1. They are spoken within the United Kingdom,
2. No other chapter is likely to support them if Wikimedia UK does not.
