Our members are fundamental to our activities and we welcome everyone who supports our aims to join us.

Benefits

  • You are supporting our goals and our work
  • You get to vote at our Annual General Meetings, where our Board is elected and administrative motions are passed
  • More membership benefits will be forthcoming over time

Eligibility

Membership is open to all; you do not have to live in the UK, be over a certain age or be editors of any of the Wikimedia Foundation projects. All we ask is that members agree to support our Objects and not to bring Wikimedia UK into disrepute.

Members have to disclose to the Board their full name and residential address but don't have to disclose the username used to edit the projects. This information is included in the chapter's Register of Members, which is publicly available to anyone with reasonable cause requesting the information. If you aren't comfortable disclosing this information, please consider donating to the chapter instead and supporting our activities.

Membership fee

The current membership fee is £5/year. This fee is reconsidered at the Annual General Meeting. Fees and donations can be paid by cash, cheques, paypal, bank transfers or standing orders. Please contact the Treasurer for the details required for bank transfers.

You can join online or download and print a PDF form. If the latter, then please post it to the address given on the form.

Membership is processed by the Treasurer; please contact him if you have any questions regarding membership.

Corporate membership

We are currently in the process of setting up a corporate membership level. This will cost £100/year. Full details will be coming soon; for now, please direct enquiries to the Treasurer.
