DRAFT PRESS RELEASE (WORK IN PROGRESS)

== Wikimedia UK host the Wikimedia Foundation Global Fund Raising event in Bristol May 14-16 - HP & The Watershed offer generous support

From Friday 14th to Sunday 16th May, Wikimedia UK plays host to Wikimedia delegates from across the world as they meet in Bristol.

This meeting is a three-day workshop to discuss technical issues that cover the work the Global Foundation and its national chapters do in relation to the worldwide fund raising effort for the Wikimedia Foundations projects (that includes Wikipedia) and other Foundation projects that include: Wikimedia Commons, Wikiversity, Wikispecies, Wikinews, Wikisource, Wikibooks, Wikiquote, Mediawiki, Wikitionary -which constitute one the world's Top Ten most visited websites.

It is the first time that Wikimedia UK, the Chapter responsible for the work and goals of the Wikimedia projects in the UK, has hosted a hosted an event of this importance and it recognises the growing importance of this growing Chapter, now entering its second full year since its foundation.

Wikimedia UK would like to recognise that the event has been made possible by the generousity of both HP and The Watershed - which are generously donating the costs of room hire, lunches and time of their staff to making this event a success.

Although delegates are here mainly on business, there will be an opportunity on both Friday and Saturday evenings for Wikimedia delegates to mix with and learn more about Bristol and its plans to build on its growing reputation as a thriving regional hub for media and digital expertise.

This bit below to figure in the Note to Editor's Section...
