I'm starting from scratch building on [[1]] partly because it's a featured portal, partly because we might be interested in using some of the same content (e.g. perhaps news, DYK, etc.). I'm going to list things I haven't quite figured out here as a note to self/anyone who wants to get involved:

• https://wikimedia.org.uk/wiki/Portal:Education/Categories isn't displaying in the portal, I may be able to work out why but I'm doing very basic level stuff at the moment (and I'm really not a particularly advanced editor).
