Next Board Meeting The next Board Meeting will happen in the irc:wikimedia-uk-board IRC channel on Tuesday 7th July 2009 at 20:30-22:30 BST. (an agenda is available here) All are welcome to attend, but only board members will be voiced. General discussion will be in irc:wikimedia-uk. There will be an Initiatives Discussion on the 30 June.

About Wikimedia UK Wikimedia UK is the local Wikimedia chapter covering the United Kingdom. The chapter is incorporated under the name "Wiki UK Limited" and uses Wikimedia UK as its operating name. It was approved as a chapter by the Wikimedia Foundation on 12 January 2009. Wikimedia UK is an entirely separate organization from the Wikimedia Foundation, and has no control over the contents of Wikipedia or any other projects run by the Wikimedia Foundation. We exist to help collect, develop and distribute freely licensed knowledge (and other educational, cultural and historic content), part of which we do by supporting the charitable activities of the Wikimedia Foundation. The chapter's Constitution consists of the Memorandum of Association and the Articles of Association. The first Board of Trustees were elected in September 2008, and the company was incorporated on 5 November 2008. Our first first Annual General Meeting was held on April 26th, where a new board was elected. Membership applications are now being accepted. Did you know... Wikipedia Loves Art - generated over 11,000 free-content photographs in February 2009, which are currently being processed. We responded to a Copyright law consultation paper from the UK Intellectual Property Office in February 2009, and are expecting a follow up discussion paper in the autumn.

Join the chapter Do you want to help support the chapter, and help share the world's knowledge with everyone, everywhere? Please become a member! Membership is open to all; there are no restrictions in the location or age of members, and members do not need to be editors of any of the Wikimedia Foundation projects. Membership costs just £12 per year (£6 for consessions). Members have the right to elect the Board, submit motions to and vote at AGMs, thereby playing a central role in determining the activities of the chapter. You can also join the Wikimedia UK email list (archive) and discuss chapter activities in the Wikimedia UK IRC channel. Support us What would you like to see the Chapter do and support?
