UK Wikimedian of the Year 2012
UK Wikimedia of the Year
It has been proposed that we have an annual competition to recognise the contribution of UK Wikimedians. The idea started last year when Fae and Roger wrote a GLAM blog post where we recognised Matthew Cock's contribution to our mission. (He is the manager at the BM who agreed to host the first Wikipedian in Residence). The UK board have had some discussions and we are open to suggestions for most of it. However we have decided that we will decide who gets "UK Wikimedian of the Year" (that will save lots of COI debates about how that one is awarded). The price we pay for that is that we can't be nominated.
What we thought was :-
Name "Wikimedia UK Annual Awards" (WUKAs)
The purpose is to recognise achievement and hopefully inspire efforts for next year.
