Description and overall rationale

Open space advocacy work - we want to make an impact in the wider open knowledge movement. This is a new area where we will be trialing various approaches to benchmark for the following year - in particular building an Open Coalition, and engaging with the Free Knowledge Advocacy Group EU. As an aspiration we want to be seen as subject experts in the field of Open.

A key elements of this project will be dependent on the Project Coordinator - a job description for whom can be seen here.

Success criteria and Metrics - overall and quarter by quarter breakdown if relevant

Goals

• Be involved in the European chapter’s initiative to influence EU policy (Free Knowledge Advocacy Group EU), to promote change to EU freedom of panorama, use of orphan works and public domain of publicly funded works. An indication of success in UK would be the number of enquiries about key issues from decision-makers
• Work on at least two collaborative projects with fellow traveller organisations such as Open Knowledge Foundation and Creative Commons
• Represent the Wikimedia movement by attending and presenting at at least three events and conferences related to the open space, public affairs and advocacy
• Deliver an event for representatives of open organisations and their volunteer communities to share good practice and develop collaborative projects
