Location: The offices of Wikimedia UK near Old Street in London.

Timescale: For three months to end of January 2014. This will be for a fixed term.

Remuneration: London Living Wage for 35 hours per week (£8.55 p/h) These may include evenings and some weekend work, with TOIL.


Key tasks: To support the project delivery team for Wikimania 2014, and particularly the Fundraising Manager in deliver partnership agreements and good internal organisation and communication

  • Helping facilitate day-to-day communication between the event team, Wikimedia Foundation, WMUK staff and volunteer community.
  • Working to develop our active volunteer base by liaising with outreach ambassadors and supporting their effective work
  • Servicing meetings, including taking minutes and reminding attendees of outstanding actions
  • Pursuing appointments for sponsor meetings, including making venue bookings, via telephone and email
  • Researching individuals and organisations to approach around partnership opportunities, including prospect research
  • Accurate data entry to record relationships with contacts and record any monies received.
  • Producing written reports to keep the event team and Wikimedia UK board informed of progress


Your skills:

  • You will be an enthusiastic and highly competent individual able to support a team by acting as a public facing point of contact
  • You will have excellent communication skills, including a high degree of literacy and a professional phone manner
  • You will be able to work unsupervised and show initiative in helping progress a diverse range of outcomes between different groups
  • You can show tact and confidence in arranging meetings and providing insights into seeking sponsorship and other support from potential partner organisation.
  • You will be a believer in open access to information and the mission of the Wikimedia movement.
  • You may have contributed already to Wikipedia and its sister sites as an editor.
  • You will believe in equal access for all to information and knowledge.


Qualifications:

  • We are looking for someone with education up to A level or equivalent, possibly currently undertaking a degree or a recent graduate.
