Proposals should be no more than 400 words long, giving the following information:
- Title
- Name or names of those presenting
- Organisation, if any
- Brief summary or description, with key themes covered
- Time needed, please give range of minimum to maximum, and preferred
- Style of presentation (eg talk, workshop, demo)
- Has it been given before? If so, where & when?
- Any very relevant links
- Any special requirements, beyond usual screen etc
- What you expect delegates to learn from your session.
The deadline for submitting a proposal is February 15th 2013 and the selection panel will notify all applicants either way by March 1st. All presentations should be in English.
Themes
We have two broad themes for papers, within the broader area of open content in the cultural sector; sustainability and future models, in particular with reference to engagement with the Wikimedia movement.
We welcome submissions both from within the Wikimedia community and from cultural institutions of all kinds, whether or not they have worked with us before.
The deadline for submissions is February 15th 2013. Please send submissions to Daria Cybulska - daria.cybulskawikimedia.org.uk - or draft them on-wiki. You can also contact the Wikimedia UK office on +44 (0) 20 7065 0990.
If you are interested in joining the event as an attendee, you can register here.

Thursday 11th - Social event
For anyone keen to join us before the official beginning of the event on Friday.
- 15:00 Tour of a museum/gallery/pub or indeed London itself - to be determined!
- 19:30 Networking dinner
Friday 12th
On the Friday, we are hoping to look at the work Wikimedia and other organisations have done in partnership with cultural institutions, presenting case studies and discussing the benefits to both parties. The day will include two keynote speeches and a series of shorter talks, of up to an hour each, with 1 to 3 tracks running at different points.
Saturday 13th
On the Saturday, we will be focusing on the more practical and technical side, looking at ways to work together and running workshops to share best practice. We welcome suggestions for practical workshops and hands-on demonstrations of new tools or methods, but are likely also to have some standard presentations also.
Sunday 14th
The Sunday will be organised as an unconference and hackathon, where the agenda and session topics are being determined by attendees on the day. If you need help with travel and accommodation, please specify on your application.
Volunteer for the conference
Volunteer helpers
We will need several helpers for reception, coordination, stewards, advice and emergency help for international travellers, reporting on the events, guides for groups wanting to socialize or play tourist around the most famous sights of London, and more technical help with Audio/Video webcasts, transcription and non-English support. Please add your name and the type of help you would like to offer on the talkpage.
Scholarships
There is a limited budget to support scholarships for the conference. These are mostly aimed at supporting speakers participating in the event (please contact Wikimedia UK for details). We may be able, however, to support some delegates from cultural organisations, and key members of the Wikimedia community.
Contact Daria Cybulska for details (daria.cybulskawikimedia.org.uk).
