Women on the Platform Editathon
What's an editathon?
An Editathon ("Edit" + "Marathon") is an event where Wikipedia editors get together to improve content around a particular topic on Wikipedia, and includes training for people who are new to Wikipedia.

About the event
The DRBs Women's History Group based at the Adult Learning Project in Edinburgh have been researching four Quaker women (Priscilla Bright McLaren, Eliza Wigham, Elizabeth Pease Nichol and Jane Smeal Wigham) who all lived in Edinburgh, and helped campaign for the emancipation of slaves and went on to start the Edinburgh chapter of the National Society for Women's Suffrage. The aim of this event is to celebrate and raise awareness of what these women achieved during their remarkable lives.
All attendees will need to be members of City of Edinburgh Libraries in order to access internet on the library's computers or the wifi by using their own laptops. For more information in how to join the library please click here.
Training on how to create and edit Wikipedia pages will be given at the event.
How do I prepare?
- Sign up for the event
- Create a Wikipedia account - It's very important that you do this in advance, we may not be able to create accounts on the day.
- Learn about editing if you like: Tutorial, or Getting started on Wikipedia for more information
- Think about what you would like to edit about - you can even prepare some materials to bring with you on the day

The afternoon will begin with Wikipedia editing training provided by Museums Galleries Scotland's Wikimedian in Residence, Sara Thomas.

Please sign up for this event. include link to CiviCRM registration page We will ask for usernames on the day to analyse how the editors interact with Wikipedia after the event, and will be used for our metrics.
