Permissions Policy

This policy sets out the responsibilities and rights of particular 'user groups' on this wiki.

Administrators

The current list of administrators is shown at Special:ListAdmins.

• Administrators are users who have the rights to delete pages, protect pages, and block users on this wiki. The exact rights are set out at Special:ListGroupRights.

The current policy of the Board of Wikimedia UK is that all current Board members and Staff are made administrators. In addition, certain trusted users are also be made administrators if they apply to the Board and are approved. However, in practice, bureaucrats tend to grant administrator rights to any volunteer that they believe can be trusted to use the administrator tools appropriately.

• Administrators inactive on this site for more than 12 months may have their sysop privilege expire. They can volunteer to be an administrator again by contacting the board.

Bureaucrats

• Bureaucrats are users who have the rights to assign or unassign any user right.
• The current policy of the Board of Wikimedia UK is that, due to the privacy issues involved, only current Board and Staff members are granted the bureaucrat right.
