UK Wikimedian of the Year 2013/Nomination

To submit a nomination, please specify who you're nominating along with a brief description on why you think they should win the award. Please no comparisons ("Bill is so much nicer than Mary" would be better phrased "Bill is very nice"). Please also add comments for or against the nominations below.

UK Wikimedian of the Year

Jane Doe (EXAMPLE)

  • Because she's great, and has contributed so much to the Wikimedia projects this last year! ~~~~

Rock drum

Generalising (Andrew Gray)

  • Andrew's work at not just the British Library but at cultural organisations up and down the country has been phenomenal, inspiring and was capped off by the very great success of GLAM-Wiki. --Mr impossible (talk) 10:35, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

Adam mugliston

  • Adam's work on on UK Transport topics like his lists of UK bus routes and work on UK roads has been inspirational, pushing forward Wikipedia's coverage of these often neglected areas. --31.99.124.211 13:51, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

  • I like visiting them, and they've shared many images with Wikimedia! ~~~~

National Library of Wales

  • National Library of Wales have said they will not claim copyright on items that are out of copyright. They are the most enthusiastic of the three Welsh bodies who volunteered to experiment with publishing images freely. They have volunteered to help with experimenting to bulk load images into commons. They are reliable supporters of Wiki. Victuallers (talk) 14:29, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

British Library

  • British Library have been long term supporters of Wiki. Their head of copyright asked us if we could help him release more images. Victuallers (talk) 20:27, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Strong Support - Also supporting GLAM-WIKI conference very generously (free conference centre), hosting Andrew Gray for a year until just now, collaborating getting St Cuthbert Gospel to FA, editathons, tours round the Royal Manuscripts & Writers exhibitions, etc etc. Johnbod (talk) 17:14, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

Public Catalogue Foundation

  • Public Catalogue Foundation have moved 210,000 paintings so that everyone can see them. The license is not ideal but isn't it great that they are available without a firewall or adverts. Victuallers (talk) 20:18, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Leighton Andrews

  • Leighton Andrews is the Welsh Education minister and when he was asked to help WMUK said "Yes, What else can I help with".... after 20 mins we had run out of outrageous requests. Victuallers (talk) 20:34, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
