Panels?

I'd be interested in organising a panel session on the general topic of scaling up activities to work with more organisations more easily. But I'm not sure whether panels are welcome at the conference - this page is focused on talks? Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 18:02, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Text for Europeana

(Starting point from GLAM-CAMP call page) We are seeking proposals for presentations, workshop proposals, or panel discussions.

• On the Friday, we are hoping to look at the work Wikimedia and other organisations have done in partnership with cultural institutions, presenting case studies and discussing the benefits to both parties.
• On the Saturday, we will be focusing on the more practical and technical side, looking at ways to work together and running workshops to share best practice.

There will also be a series of practical workshops running in parallel on both Friday and Saturday. The Sunday will be organised as an unconference, where the agenda and session topics are being determined by attendees on the day.

Possible themes for papers:

• Making partnerships sustainable
  • Moving beyond a volunteer contact
  • Continuing partnerships after the the first, easy, projects
  • How to make the most of the cooperation between GLAM institutions and Wikip/medias volunteers
• New models and future projects
  • Wikipedians in Residence outside GLAMs?
  • "Ubiquitous engagement" such as Monmouthpedia.
  • Extending GLAM partnerships to non-traditional institutions
  • e-volunteering
  • Mobile engagement

The call for papers is ongoing. Papers from non-Wikimedian cultural institution professionals are especially welcome.

• The GLAM-WIKI Conference 2013 will be held at the British Library in London on Friday 12 - Sunday 14 April 2013. This is the second conference in the series following a very successful first event at the British Museum in 2010. The conference brings together professionals from "GLAM" institutions - that is Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums - and activists, volunteers and those interested in open content for the cultural sector, especially on Wikipedia and the other projects of the Wikimedia Foundation. The conference is organised by Wikimedia UK in association with Wikimedia Sweden and Europeana, and hosted by the British Library. The cost to attendees will be low, especially for those from GLAM institutions and Wikimedia volunteers.

When we send out the call for papers

We ask you to include the following information:

• Your name.
• The organisation you work for (if applicable).
• What, if any, Wikimedia Foundation projects that you have participated in.
• The title of your paper.
• A short summary of what your paper will cover (around 200 words).
• How your paper relates to the theme outlined above.
• Links to any material that can give us a sense of your presentation style, such as slides, online videos or reports from previous talks.

If you have a proposal for presentations etc. please send in the application before the 31st of January to daria.cybulskawikimedia.org.uk.

Comments on new draft

I changed "cooperation" to "association" - equally vague but more idiomatic in English I think - I'm not too bothered about this. You may remember a discussion on these terms on the ?cultural partners list a while back - we don't want our heads shaved by the Dutch - that's what they do to collaborators apparently. I forgot to add that bit, which I meant to. Fine with it now. Sorry it took so long (bd meeting till 15 to midnight at the office today)! Johnbod (talk) 00:33, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
