Overview

The Brighton Hackathon is a Wikimedia-related developer meetup and hackdays in Brighton due to happen in November 2011, and has already generated some interest. Per discussions on the mailing list, IRC and various other platforms, I have created this microgrant page. See mw:Brighton Hackathon 2011.

Expected outcomes

Provide time for developers, and other developer-type people to collaboratively work together on projects (for example MediaWiki and Toolserver, however anyone is free to suggest and work on other projects that are beneficial) that will benefit Wikimedia projects. As well as this, it provides opportunities for UK or closer European based developers to meet and hack together.

Who I am

I'm Lewis Cawte, and I go under the name of Lcawte online. I've been following the Wikimedia development projects for over a year, and have had various constraints on attending Wikimanias and other Hackathons, so Sumana, the Wikimedia Foundation 'Volunteer Development Coordinator'(?) suggested I organise my own. My main constraint is that I've only recently turned 15, but I've been editing, and using MediaWiki since I was 12, and I've more recently become involved in translatewiki.net (Staff Member) and other projects. For more details, you can google "Lewis Cawte" or "Lcawte" or see my user page.
