The presentation diagnoses the situations of South(ern) African Wikipedias firstly by placing them in the context of socio-linguistic history, then by examining statistics concerning contribution & use. It ends by looking at ways forward.

Michael Graaf has just completed his Masters in IT at the University of Cape Town. He is an active Wikimedian as well as long-time activist in various South African social justice organisations. He is an organiser of Wikimania 2018 in Cape Town in July and hopes to see faces from Celtic Knot there!
