Basic information
- Project Title (If applicable)
- The South East England contest-->
- Proposed by
Dr. Blofeld
- Are you currently a member of Wikimedia UK?
- Yes
Project description
- Briefly describe the issue or problem that motivates this application. What needs are you meeting?
- Content related to this area is in need of significant improvement.
- Describe project activities. What will you use the funding to do?
- To design a contest/toolkit which can be used by somebody else to run a contest related to this area (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey and West Sussex) on wikipedia much more efficiently and less time consumingly than it would if I ran it myself. I will draw up detailed core article lists, lists of articles needing work and project pages, attempting to start to spread what I've achieved to date with running Awaken the Dragon and West Country.
- Describe your plan for evaluating this project. How will you measure success? What types of things will you measure (e.g. content, participants)?
- The contest, using a similar design to previous successful UK contests, will be a success if my model is adopted and run by another editor, thus spreading what I've achieved to date.
- Identify key people involved in this project. How will or could the wider Wikimedian community be involved?
- I will take full responsibility for the development, and I am sure this will have the support of previous contestants.
- If applicable, identify partnering organisations for this project (not essential)
- PLACEHOLDER TEXT
If you feel that there is more information that could be for example resources needed, how successes can be measured, and how it fits in with the aims of Wikimedia and Wikimedia UK. Please note that these answers don't have to be definite now, and can be expanded on in conversation with the programme team.
- What targets have you set? What will you measure?
- Several hundred articles improved, 10 + contestants competing in a contest without me running it.
- What contribution will the project make to our strategic goals?
- It directly supports UK content improvement.
- Who will be recording/measuring the project metrics, and writing up a project report?
- I will.
- What staff support is being requested?
- PLACEHOLDER TEXT
- How can you get other volunteers involved? What roles could they have?
- Alert people of the contest design and try to attract somebody to run the contest.
- What meeting or other space is needed?
- None.
- Are other resources needed (such as computers, books, camera equipment, food, contacts, infrastructure)? How will they be sourced?
- Hopefully Wikimedia UK would provide further support later for contest prizes/books if the contest I design goes ahead.
- If any partner organisations have been identified, have they been contacted and are they committed?
- N/A
- Does this project require more extensive funding? What would any WMUK funds be used for?
- Per above.
- Are external funds needed that we can apply for? If so where will they be sought?
- None
- Are there any resources that you can contribute? Such as equipment.
- Just my skills at designing contests :-)
