About the event

The Showpeople community of Glasgow have been working with Glasgow Museums for years to preserve and archive knowledge connected to the rich culture of the Showpeople of Scotland, and Glasgow in particular. However, there's a gap on Wikipedia about this knowledge, and we'd like to remedy that! Join us for an afternoon of Wiki training and editing.

How do I prepare?
  • Sign up for the event
  • Create a Wikipedia account
  • Bring a laptop or tablet (wi-fi will be provided)
  • Learn about editing if you like: Tutorial, or Getting started on Wikipedia for more information
  • Think about what you would like to edit about - you can even prepare some materials to bring with you on the day. We've provided a hit-list of articles below to give you a headstart. We'll provide some secondary sources on the day, but you may want to look out some other sources in advance.
  • Photographs - if you'd like to bring photographs to illustrate Wikipedia, please do! We'll be happy to digitise them. Please note though that all photographs would be released on a Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 3.0 License.
  • Refreshments will be provided
