: We could do, but we already state in the AoA that "The Directors may only refuse an application for membership if, acting reasonably and properly, they consider it to be in the best interests of the charity to refuse the application." That covers the basics; the rest are really just guidelines. - I'm not sure I agree with that interpretation! I would think "in the interests of the charity" means, in practice, the Board can do pretty much what it likes! The bits in the guidance are much more restrictive. AndrewRT 21:12, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
