We've held some editathons...
An editathon is usually a day- or half-day event in which Wikipedians and newcomers gather to improve articles around a particular topic. Many are public events, and many are held by academic or professional organisations. They incorporate training and in-person help from experienced Wikipedians, so a big part of their utility is in building skills and confidence in new users, and hopefully conveying the fun of wiki editing so that they continue beyond the event.

The first ever editathon took place in the British Library in January 2011.
