One of those would be great - it means we can set up our own network wherever we choose to host our event, as long as there is mobile signal. The main cost of this would be the phone bill, which is running cost, rather than the upfront cost of the equipment though, so I'm not sure whether this suggestion falls within scope... : Most smart phones can set up a mobile hotspot nowadays, sometimes subject to an extra charge - have the office mobile phones been set up to do this for events that staff are attending? A [http://store.three.co.uk/Mobile_Broadband/MiFi MiFi] would be another approach here. When on a monthly contract, the primary cost is the phone bill as Deryck says, although there are also pay as you go options available that move more of the cost up-front. Thanks. :I've put some stuff in, feel free to amend if there is a better deal out there. For some sessions you might have people who are prepared to use their own mobile account and they just need the technology to turn their phone or dongle into a hub. I suspect that something like our long gestated image uploading workshop would go beyond most people's monthly contracts and incur extra charges. But most other editing should be lower bandwidth. Current equipment
It would be good to include a list, or link to a list, of equipment that is already available to volunteers from the office (e.g. the laptops). Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 12:21, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
- IIRC:
- Three Lenovo laptops
- One Chromebook
- Possibly one other laptop?
- Projector
- WMUK banner
- Various consumables - leaflets etc.
Not sure if there's currently anything else. Andrew Gray (talk) 14:54, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
- I believe there's also a camera, am not sure what else. I've just remembered there is a partial list at Fixed Asset Register. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 15:05, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
- I've started this, feel free to add stuff. WereSpielChequers (talk) 12:45, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
