| | 1 October marked the first anniversary of {{w|Wikipedia:GLAM/HAGAM|Wikimedia UK's ongoing partnership with Herbert Art Gallery and Museum}}, the longest-running GLAM partnership in the UK outside of London. Over the past 12 months, we've achieved a great deal. We've organised four events at the museum with over 80 people attending in total, the museum has donated images to Commons and we've turned readers into editors. |

| Over the past six months, a Wikimedia UK trustee led two Wikipedia-related projects, Monmouthpedia and Gibraltarpedia, in a way that seemed to some observers to blur his roles as a Wikimedia UK trustee, a paid consultant for the projects’ government partners, and an editor of the English Wikipedia. This raised questions in the Wikimedia community about whether a trustee was able to balance appropriately the interests of his clients with his responsibilities to Wikimedia UK, the values and editorial policies of Wikipedia, and whether any conflict of interest that arose as a result was effectively managed.

| | This time last year, we ran a [[Herbert Backstage Pass|Backstage Pass]] event at the museum. 25 people attended, coming from as far away as Southampton and Wales. Attendees worked on expanding several articles and created new ones. In January, we worked with the museum to upload [[commons:Category:Watercolours from Herbert Art Gallery and Museum|some watercolour paintings from the museum's upcoming exhibition]], in addition to [[commons:Category:Images from Herbert Art Gallery and Museum|several others images from the museum]]. The Wikimedia projects are special: they are written and curated by thousands of volunteers. They are also supported by voluntary donations, through Wikimedia UK, the Wikimedia Foundation and other international chapters.
Wikimedia UK is a charity registered in England and Wales that supports and promotes Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects such as Wikimedia Commons. Our mission is to help people and organisations create and preserve open knowledge, and to help provide easy access for all. We do this by supporting volunteer editors and contributors ('Wikimedians'), by working in partnership with cultural and educational institutions, by hosting training sessions and editing events, and by acting to advocate the benefits of open knowledge generally.
There are several ways to get involved in the charity's work. You can become a member for just £5 per year. You can volunteer to work with us in a variety of ways, both online and offline. Donate to Wikimedia UK to keep Wikipedia running free from advertising and support our work getting more people and institutions working with Wikipedia and its sister projects.
