Revision as of 18:15, 22 April 2025
The annual UK Wikimedian of the Year Awards began in 2012, to recognise and celebrate those whose work has helped the UK Wiki Community over the last year.
There have been various categories awarded since the Awards’ inception (see below), but for the last few years, we’ve invited nominations for the overall UK Wikimedian of the Year, Partnership of the Year, and Up & Coming Wikimedian.
Nominations are invited from the community each year, and these are reviewed by a committee made up of staff and invited volunteers from the Board of Trustees and the Community Development Committee. The awards are then announced at the Community Celebration in November.
Winners of the UK Wikimedian of the Year 2014 awards, with Jan-Bart de Vreede - Chair of the Wikimedia Foundation third from the left.
