In 2008 the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees changed its constitution to introduce two Board seats appointed collectively by the chapters. These two seats are elected in even numbered years and sit alongside three seats that are elected by Wikimedia editors and five seats that are appointed by the Board of which four are "expert" seats and one is the "founder" seat.
The 2008 seats were filled in May 2009 by Arne Klempert and Michael Snow.
The Process was approved in April 2010. Tom Dalton was appointed the moderator. Seven candidates have been nominated the confidential details of which are shown at this restricted page.
