Welcome to Wikimedia UK
Supporting free and open knowledge in the United Kingdom

About Wikimedia UK

Wikimedia UK (incorporated under the name "Wiki UK Limited") is the local Wikimedia chapter covering the United Kingdom.

Wikimedia UK is a separate organization from the Wikimedia Foundation, and has no control over the contents of Wikipedia or any other projects run by the Wikimedia Foundation. We exist to help collect, develop and distribute freely licensed knowledge (and other educational, cultural and historic content), which we do by supporting the charitable activities of the Wikimedia Foundation.

What's happening?

We have several initiatives and projects currently, including:

Our next Board Meeting will be on Tuesday 2nd March 2010 at 21:30-23:30 GMT. It will focus on the 2010 Budget and specific initiatives; a complete agenda is available here.

Our upcoming events are listed on the left-hand bar.

Join the chapter

Do you want to help support the chapter, and help share the world's knowledge with everyone, everywhere? Then join us!

Membership is open to all regardless of location or age. Members do not need to be editors of any of the Wikimedia Foundation projects. Membership costs just £12 per year (£6 for concessions). Members have the right to elect the Board as well as submit motions to and vote at AGMs, thereby playing a central role in determining the activities of the chapter.

Support us

What would you like to see the Chapter do and support? Do you have an idea for an initiative that you'd like to see happen? Are you able to volunteer your time to help with an initiative? Please let us know, or share your ideas with us!

Please help us discuss all major decisions with on our mailing list and our wiki!

Would you like to help but don't have the time? Please consider donating and supporting our work financially. We prefer donations via cheque or bank transfer as this avoids us having to pay any fees. Alternatively, click below to pay with PayPal.
