Wikimedia UK can put course leaders in touch with volunteers to help teach students about Wikipedia or troubleshoot issues with editing.

Importantly we want to make it easier for course leaders to contact each other and learn from the experience of their peers.

Our work in education

One of our key strategic goals as an organisation is to support the use of the Wikimedia projects as important tools for education and learning in the UK. We work with universities, support teachers developing Open Educational Resources, and advocate for the use of Wikimedia in education.

Universities

EduWiki 2013 Day 1 (15) - cropped.jpg

Courses at eight universities across the United Kingdom currently use Wikipedia editing as part of teaching and assessment. Wikimedia UK and its volunteers support these courses.

Secondary education
The proper use of Wikipedia as a resource can be taught in a practical way; and, just as important, a good understanding of the issues relating to an informed and critical use of Wikipedia are skills that can readily be applied to other online or in-print information sources.
