Over the past few months Wikimedia UK has started the process of reviewing and refreshing Wikimedia UK's strategic framework, and developing a new business plan for 2016 - 19. The [[:File:DraftStrategicFramework2016-19February2016.pdf|Draft Strategic Framework]] sets out a new vision for the charity and we would love to hear from volunteers, members and other stakeholders about whether you support the proposed direction of travel. The process so far has involved a board away day in December, a planning session with the staff team, and a review of the draft documents at the board meeting in March. Please also refer to the [[:File:NotesfromboardawaydayDecember2015.pdf|Notes from the Board Away Day]] on the Draft Strategic Framework. Thank you to everyone who responded to our strategic framework consultation, either on wiki, by email or via the mailing list. We now need to look at the feedback in detail and consider how the draft framework should be amended to reflect the suggestions that have been made. When considering the draft strategic framework, we would be particularly keen for you to bear these questions in mind - although please don't feel that you have to answer all of them:
A final draft of both the strategic framework and the business plan will be considered by the board at their next meeting in June. We will update the community soon afterwards with the outcomes from these discussions and, hopefully, the approved plans.

1. Do you agree with the overall strategic framework proposed? If not, why/what changes would you like to suggest?

2. Is there anything missing?

3. How should Wikimedia UK prioritise activities?

4. How can we work with you on delivering the strategy?

The Draft Strategic Framework for 2016-19

Thank you to everyone who responded to our strategic framework consultation, either on wiki, by email or via the mailing list. We now need to look at the feedback in detail and consider how the draft framework should be amended to reflect the suggestions that have been made. As previously outlined, the outputs from the strategic planning process will be:

  • A clear, concise strategic framework for the period 2016 to 2019, which outlines our vision, mission, values, planned outcomes, strategic goals and objectives and major programme strands
  • A three year business plan which puts the strategy in context, articulating the external context and drivers, planned priorities and programmes for the three year period and internal resources including staffing and funding
  • A delivery plan which details our activities in 2016/17

A final draft of both the strategic framework and the business plan will be considered by the board at their next meeting in June. We will update the community soon afterwards with the outcomes from these discussions and, hopefully, the approved plans.
