Despite the prevalence of internet use, many students experience difficulties in their web based information-seeking activities (Bartlett & Miller, 2011; Hargittai, Fullerton, Menchen-Trevino, & Thomas, 2010; Livingstone, Bober, & Helsper, 2005; Walraven, Brand-Gruwel, & Boshuizen, 2008; Williams & Rowlands, 2007).  
Despite the prevalence of internet use, many students experience difficulties in their web based information-seeking activities (Bartlett & Miller, 2011; Hargittai, Fullerton, Menchen-Trevino, & Thomas, 2010; Livingstone, Bober, & Helsper, 2005; Walraven, Brand-Gruwel, & Boshuizen, 2008; Williams & Rowlands, 2007).  
These problems are fundamentally issues of literacy, which includes capabilities around the searching for, selecting , and processing of complex documents and multi-media on the web (OECD, 2013); understanding how to source, corroborate, and integrate claims from across multiple documents are key facets of literacy for mature internet use (Rouet, 2006, p. 177).
