About EduWiki 2013
Wikimedia UK is the national charity supporting the eleven Wikimedia projects (including Wikipedia, Wikiversity, Wikibooks, and Wikinews) in their mission to give free knowledge to everyone in the world. EduWiki is its annual education conference, bringing staff from universities, schools and other sectors together with wiki contributors. Together we explore how Wikimedia sites can support innovative, active, low-cost activities for learners, promoting subject skills and general information literacy. As well as these educational objectives, our collaborations can advance the goal of global, freely-available lifelong learning.
Wikipedia and its sister sites are increasingly used as platforms for educational assignments, in the UK and internationally. The conference is a chance to discover opportunities; report lessons learned; and explore how the free, open, learner-centred ethos of Wikimedia overlaps current trends in formal education.
Themes addressed in the conference include:

Feedback from the previous EduWiki
- "I was delighted to be asked to speak, but I really went to learn, and learn I did. This semi-skeptic was won over."
- "looking back it was easily the most thought-provoking event I have been to for some time."
- "There were interesting people there, the food was good, the sun shone, and it was quite a success."
- "Once again, thanks and I look forward to the continued growth and hopefully my useful participation in what has to be a truly exciting effort towards an informed global community." - anonymous evaluation
- "The relationship between OERs, open access, open academic practices and Wikipedia were very strong in the discussions, alongside issues surrounding digital literacy as well as citation and referencing practices."
- "Overall, it was a very encouraging coming-together of Wikipedians and educators"
See EduWiki_Conference_2012#Reflections_and_coverage or look at the (extremely positive) summary of feedback forms.
