Here at Wikimedia UK we like to keep in touch with our volunteers and the people interested in our work using as many methods as possible.

Wikimedia UK is committed to supporting our volunteers. To encourage them to teach others how to edit Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, we are running a weekend training workshop. This will take place on the weekend of 23-24 February in Newcastle, and we would particularly encourage anyone from the North East and Scotland to attend.
To this end, we're hosting an online web chat at 5.30pm this evening, Wednesday 16 January. Some of the staff from our office will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about Wikimedia UK and our projects and plans.

The workshop will be delivered by a professional training company and aims to improve delegates’ abilities to deliver any training workshop. It’s especially relevant to anybody who already runs Wikimedia-related training, or is very interested in doing so in near future. The workshop is a chance to:
We're particularly keen to take questions from volunteers and Wikimedia project editors who are keen to learn more about the chapter. The chat is also open to journalists who'd like to find out more about who we are and what we do.

* Get accredited and receive detailed feedback about your presenting and training skills

* Get general trainer skills which you can then apply when e.g. delivering specific Wikipedia workshops
* Share your skills with others
* Help design a training programme that serves Wikimedia UK in the long term.

The course will run from 9:30 am-6:30pm on Saturday and 9am-5pm on Sunday. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. We should also be able to cover travel and accommodation if you let us know in advance. <span class="plainlinks">[http://blog.wikimedia.org.uk/2013/01/training-for-trainers-session-confirmed-for-newcastle/ <nowiki>[</nowiki>...<nowiki>]</nowiki>]</span>

Our website

If you'd like to see what Wikimedia UK is working on, our website is the best place for our community of volunteers, donors and members to stay up to date.

About Wikimedia UK

The Wikimedia projects are special: they are written and curated by thousands of volunteers. They are also supported by voluntary donations, through Wikimedia UK, the Wikimedia Foundation and other international chapters.

Wikimedia UK is a charity registered in England and Wales that supports and promotes Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects such as Wikimedia Commons. Our mission is to help people and organisations create and preserve open knowledge, and to help provide easy access for all. We do this by supporting volunteer editors and contributors ('Wikimedians'), by working in partnership with cultural and educational institutions, by hosting training sessions and editing events, and by acting to advocate the benefits of open knowledge generally.

There are several ways to get involved in the charity's work. You can become a member for just £5 per year. You can volunteer to work with us in a variety of ways, both online and offline. You can also make a donation (and if you're a UK taxpayer, we can claim Gift Aid). Subscribe to our Friends' Newsletter to stay in touch. Click the buttons below to learn more.
