A one-day, free, hands-on training event for Parkinson's UK staff in improving Wikipedia, arranged in cooperation with Wikimedia UK. Attendees are asked to bring their own laptops and to register a user account on Wikipedia in advance. This is a quick procedure that does not need any detailed personal information; although it is advisable to give an email address, to enable the retrieval of forgotten passwords!
Parkinson's UK expectations are to learn how Wikipedia actually works, what is the etiquette of contributing. Ideally they would like to lean how they can improve Parkinson's related topics, but it's important that their expectations are managed - they need to be aware of the strict requirements surrounding contributing to medical topics.
Attendees
If you have a laptop, please bring it in with you.
It will also help if you create an editing account at Wikipedia before you come in on Thursday. If you haven't yet created an account, please go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page and click 'Create an account' at the top right corner. If you need help you can wait till the workshop.
Here is a provisional list provided from Parkinson's UK. If you have created an account, please email it to me; or if you can write it down below.
