== A panellist on the "culture of openness" ==
My name is Martin Poulter. Based at the University of Bristol, I have a background in teaching support and Open Educational Resources project within Higher Education, as well as in Wikipedia as an author and reviewer of scientific articles. I'd be prepared to defend the following statement:
"The exact factors that contribute to Wikipedia's success as a community are exactly those which managerialism and competition are
eroding from higher education in the UK."
I would do this in detail by describing what I know of each culture. I could do this as part of a panel on openness, on cultural change, Wikipedia education projects or other topics, depending on what other panellists come forward.
Since I'm the convenor of the conference, I'd be very happy to withdraw this proposal to make room for other speakers! [[User:MartinPoulter|MartinPoulter]] ([[User talk:MartinPoulter|talk]]) 20:56, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
