Location: Maths and Computing Gallery on 2nd floor, next to the Information Age gallery
Breakdown of event: Visitors will take photos of the items in the new Information Age gallery using their own phones/cameras. Volunteers will then show them how to upload these photos on Wikimedia Commons using the laptops provided by Wikimedia UK
Volunteers:
- Ask visitors to take photos of five items that they find interesting
- Demonstrate how to upload them to Wikimedia Commons (and if necessary show them how to create a Wikimedia account)
- Ensure that the details of items are collected (by writing or snapping the label)
- Supervise laptops
- Ask visitors for their name and email if they want their photo to be entered in the competition (award at Christmas party 17th December)
Note: There are several items which cannot be uploaded onto Wikimedia Commons. Table to come.
Test: Android app QR code may be of use?
