'''EduWiki Conference 2014''' was the third annual conference organised by Wikimedia UK focusing on Education projects.

This is a one-day event raising awareness of the educational possibilities of Wikipedia and sister projects, and developing Wikimedia UK's academic engagement. In light of the fact that [[Wikimania 2014]] drew substantial resources away from the EduWiki conference, this year's event is taking the form of a symposium bringing together all those in the Education sector who have benefited directly from WMUK support over the years. Aside from presentations about case studies from across the UK, this event also offers an opportunity for others across the education sector to attend workshops for Educators and/or Campus Ambassadors, providing support for those using Wikipedia as a teaching platform.

'''What to do'''

The [https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zj9Nlox4j50M.klC76FyaKzB8 EduWiki 2014 Google Map] details a number of local tourist destinations in Edinburgh and their location, including the iconic [http://www.edinburghcastle.gov.uk/ Edinburgh Castle], the [http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/ Scottish Parliament Buildings], and the [http://www.royalcollection.org.uk/visit/palace-of-holyroodhouse Palace of Holyroodhouse] - the Queen's official residence in Scotland. While these and other popular sites, like the [http://www.camera-obscura.co.uk/ Camera Obscura], [http://www.realmarykingsclose.com/ Mary King's Close] (an historic street preserved underneath the Royal Mile), and [http://www.nts.org.uk/Property/Gladstones-Land/ Gladstone's Land] charge for entry, there are a number of fantastic local and national cultural organisations that provide an amazing Edinburgh experience for free. Be sure to check out the stunningly renovated [http://www.nms.ac.uk/national-museum-of-scotland/ National Museum of Scotland] and the world-famous Greyfriar's Kirkyard (with a statue of the beloved Greyfriar's Bobby in front). The [http://www.nls.uk/ National Library of Scotland] also hosts a free exhibition like the current 'Behind the Lines' exhibit that explores the personal stories of Scots in the First World War. There are several free smaller museums off the Royal Mile, like the Museum of Edinburgh, the Museum of Childhood and the Writer's Museum. Or, if you prefer, grab a pint at one of the busy historic pubs that line the Grassmarket, and take in a view of some of the city's incredible historic architecture.

An opportunity to meet Wikimedians and educators from around the UK and the world over drinks, and to break the ice before discussions the next morning. WiFi will be available. This event will be held at the City Cafe's City 2 function room, located at 19 Blair St, Edinburgh EH1 1QR

EduWiki Hallowe'en TeachMeet Social

The conference will be followed by a special EduWiki TeachMeet Hallowe'en edition, where participants will be able to mingle over drinks and nibbles from 19:00 onwards, while teachers and Wikimedians alike are encouraged to give a casual 7 minute or 2 minute micropresentation about Wikipedia/Wikimedia in the classroom. Sponsored by the National Library of Scotland and Radio EDUTalk, the TeachMeet will be the perfect chance to socialise with delegates, speakers, and local educators! The event will be held at Codebase, located at Argyle House, 3 Lady Lawson St, Edinburgh EH3 9DR.

Wikipedia Education Collaborative

EduWiki will also provide an opportunity for Wikipedia Education Collaborative members to follow-up on previous discussions, mainly through a full-day meeting on the day after EduWiki.
