The main WMUK website, this wiki, will soon be migrating from Wikimedia Foundation's servers to Wikimedia UK's own hosting. This page provide information for users of this wiki on what effect that will cause and how one can prepare for the migration.

== What will be lost? ==
All content on this wiki will be migrated to the new servers. However, accounts information will not be transferred. Matching accounts will be created on the new wiki and all users who have enabled email from other users set in their [[Special:Preferences|account preferences]] will be emailed a new temporary password to login to the matching account on the new wiki. Also lost will be the individual non-default preferences that have been set. This include all account's watchlist.

The {{w|domain name}} of the website will change from <pre>uk.wikimedia.org</pre> to <pre>www.wikimedia.org.uk</pre>. While automatic redirect will exist from the current domain, users should update their bookmarks to use the new address.
 
== Saving your watchlist ==
To manually migrate your watchlist, go to [[Special:EditWatchlist/raw]] and save everything within the Titles: text box in a text file on your computer. On the new wiki after migration, again go to [[Special:EditWatchlist/raw]] and this time paste what you previously saved into the text box and click "Update watchlist".
