We have been contacted by [http://www.burgon.org.uk/ the Burgon Society], an educational charity dedicated to the study academic dress and related topics. The society is interested in an editathon-style event at which its members can work collaboratively with experienced Wikipedians to improve Wikipedia's coverage of the subject area. Some reference material will be on-hand. Wikimedians who wish to help, please sign up below.
We have been contacted by the {{w|Burgon Society}}, an educational charity dedicated to the study of {{w|academic dress}} and related topics. The society was interested in an editathon-style event at which its members could work collaboratively with experienced Wikipedians to improve Wikipedia's coverage of the subject area. Some reference material was available on-hand. The idea was to model the event on 2012 successful [[Coventry History Editathon]] (and the [[Coventry History Editathon/Report|report]]).


All details are subject to confirmation, but the provisional date is 25 May 2013.

#: We'll need your name in advance to ensure that we book a large enough room and order enough sandwiches for lunch. (Also, the Deloitte security desk will want to know who to expect on the day.)
# Do I need to know how to edit Wikipedia already?
#: No.  We'll have some experienced editors present to help out, and will also have supplies of editing guides and quick-reference sheets.
# Should I bring a laptop computer?
#: If you've got one then please do.  We might have a spare one or two on the day, but if you've got your own then that would be great. But if you don't have one then you're still welcome.
# Can I bring a camera?
#: Yes, please do! We hope to have some items from the Burgon Society's collection available for photographing, and it would also be nice to have a record of the day's events.
# What about lunch?
#: A sandwich lunch will be provided.
# Do I have to be a member of Wikimedia UK or the Burgon Society?

What is it?

We have been contacted by the Burgon Society, an educational charity dedicated to the study of academic dress and related topics. The society was interested in an editathon-style event at which its members could work collaboratively with experienced Wikipedians to improve Wikipedia's coverage of the subject area.
