We have two days of talks planned. Possible speakers include:

* Cory Doctorow, Jimmy Wales, Joscelyn Upendran, Jill Cousins, Andrew Lih...? Add other ideas in here...
We believe that Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAMs) should constantly look for new and imaginative ways to maximise the impact of their collections and knowledge. While online collections are a popular and exciting route to engage with their audience, they typically only have small numbers of visitors—whereas working with the Wikimedia community can offer Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums a new window on a potential global audience of over half a billion people worldwide.

This conference, hosted by the British Library, had two main themes. On Friday, we were explaining the work the Wikimedia movement had been doing with cultural organisations to showcase what partnerships and opportunities are available. Attendees could hear first-hand how some institutions are already leveraging the connection between sharing a part of their own collections with Wikimedia and seeing some amazing benefits – such as improved accessibility to non English speakers via multi-lingual wikipedia articles. Attendees were able to better understand the crossover of mutual interest that Wikimedians share with curators of cultural heritage to further each other's goals.

On Saturday, the conference focused on the more practical sides of the Wikimedia-GLAM collaborations, with workshops and discussions to develop ideas.

We also had a '''free''' Sunday [[GLAM-WIKI 2013/Hackathon|unconference and hackathon]] event - [http://london2013.thatcamp.org/ '''THATCamp London 2013'''] - where the agenda and session topics were determined by attendees, on the day, which meant inspiring lightning talks, and getting as involved as possible.

This event brought the Wikimedians and cultural institutions together to share their GLAM related experience. It was particularly relevant to any representatives of cultural institutions interested in a partnership with Wikimedia UK. Any representatives from the licensing, web, curation and interpretation departments in cultural institutions were welcome.

| style="color:#000;" | The full scope is to be agreed. This is a global GLAM conference, the UK chapter is hosting in partnership with the British Library with the support of other chapters and the WMF in terms of volunteer support and scholarships to attend.

The intention is to attract Wikimedians to share their GLAM related experience and professionals to address the GLAM community. Presentations may be available as open publications or be the basis of published papers after the event.</div>

[http://london2013.thatcamp.org/ THATCamp London 2013] explored the humanities and technology. The overall aim was to see lots of exciting creations and thoughts around free-licensing, open access and the interface between humanities and technology.

As one of the participant remarked, "the Glamwiki conference in London gave a tremendous boost to run some projects in my country" - find out what it was about!

Themes/Purpose

The British Library's main courtyard entrance

We also had a free Sunday unconference and hackathon event - THATCamp London 2013 - where the agenda and session topics were determined by attendees, on the day, which meant inspiring lightning talks, and getting as involved as possible.
