A preliminary planning meeting for people interested in being involved with a 2014 Wikimania bid for London.
If you are interested in being part of a 2014 bid, and can make it to the WMUK office near Old Street Tube station on the 19th, please sign below with three tildes (~~~).
Remote participation via Skype may be possible for those who are unable to attend in person, but large conference calls tend to be of poor quality, so numbers will be limited.
Agenda
Informal meeting with no rigid structure. Topic of discussion will likely include:
- Expressions of interest in being part of the organising committee or otherwise assisting the bid
- Debriefing on the 2013 bid, including lessons learned and contacts/agreements made that might assist the 2014 bid
- Potential support the WMUK board/staff could offer the bid
Attendees
- Harry Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts?
- Richard Symonds (talk)
- Mike Peel (talk) 11:55, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- EdSaperia (talk) This is the morning after my birthday party... but I think I should probably be there since I ran the 2013 bid. Any chance of moving it? :/
- It's on the 13th because our AGM is on the 12th, and the Wikimeet in London is on the afternoon of the 13th. It means we'll be able to have the highest attendance from the community... We could probably have it later in the morning, though, rather than earlier... Richard Symonds (talk) 12:06, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'm convening the meeting, so it won't be a completely unsociable hour! ;) And Richard's explanation is spot on—it's the date on which we have the best chance of getting almost everybody who's interested in one place at one time. Apologies for the clash with your hangover! Harry Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:12, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- Harry does it not make sense to discuss this at the AGM? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.115.98.121 (talk • contribs)

- If this is to be on the 13th then it will have to be instead of the AGM. I have 4 exams the following week and cant afford to give up two days. I would be more in favour of the 27th date suggested by tom dalton.Seddon (talk) 21:43, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- If I can, but I will need to find somewhere to stay the night. Rich Farmbrough, 23:14, 5 May 2012 (UTC).
- I can offer a dozen beds if anyone needs them. EdSaperia
