We want to celebrate it in the UK by running an event or a series of events in October aimed at improving Wikipedia articles related to Black history, music and culture. Attracting new editors from the community would be desirable too. In previous years there had been many events organised by various organisations around the Black History Month, and we could link with these events for example in the form of editathons.

Black History Month also known as African-American History Month, is an annual observance in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom for remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. It is celebrated annually in the United States and Canada in February and the United Kingdom in October (throughout the whole month).

We want to celebrate it in the UK by running an event or a series of events in October 2012 aimed at improving Wikipedia articles related to Black history, music and culture. Attracting new editors from the community would be desirable too. In previous years there had been many events organised by various organisations around the Black History Month, and we could link with these events for example in the form of editathons.
