:: It's a Wikimedia UK event that is taking place in the UK. So my view would be that this wiki would be a natural location for it. Having it here doesn't prevent links being posted on Wikipedia/Commons/etc. in exactly the same way that a local page could be linked to. :::One reason is that just because someone enjoys regularly contributing on the English Wikipedia and would like to joint a UK based editathon (virtually or in person) does not mean they would want to set up a special account on this independent website just to add themselves to the registration page. It creates an unnecessary barrier for an event that has objectives squarely defined by en.wp contributions.
