==Etymology==

Hi Thyrduulf, good to meet you at the workshop. I looked up Thryd- in Old English; it's the same as Thryth-, meaning 'might, power, force, strength; majesty, glory, splendour; multitude, troop, host'. Ulf (as if you didn't know) = Wulf, a (male) wolf, a wolfish person, a devil. The name therefore means something like 'Wolf-strength' (or perhaps 'Wolf-splendour', if that's imaginable - seems less likely), not a bad epithet for a warrior, I guess. WLM awards ceremony and community Xmas party 2013

Wikimedia UK would like to invite its members and other active wikimedians to celebrate the season, and specifically to celebrate Wiki Loves Monuments 2013.

We will be holding open house in our offices at Development house, 56-64 Leonard St, London EC2A 4LT (Old St tube) from 16:00 to 20:00 on the 10th of December 2013

Jimmy Wales will be presenting prizes for the winning photographs from the UK section of Wiki Loves Monuments at 18:00

Drinks and nibbles will be available, though as a charity we are reluctant to buy booze, so contributions of food or drink will be very welcome.

Wikimedia UK is happy to host a photography training session by {{w|User:Geni}} on the 10 December 2013.

Participants can expect to learn some tips for taking good photographs of objects in Museums.

This is intended for people who already have experience of uploading photographs to Wikimedia Commons but want some tips for handling common problems such as reflections from glass display cases.

{{w|User:Geni}} is a long-standing Wikimedian who will be using this session to share some of his experience of taking close up photographs in museums.

This event is suitable for people who have some experience of taking photographs and uploading them to Wikimedia Commons and wants some tips to improve their photography.

After a short break we will also be hosting [[WLM awards ceremony|the Wiki loves Monuments]] awards with Jimmy Wales. Both events are free and we hope that attendees of the photography session will stay on for the awards ceremony, but if so please sign up for both as both events are limited to the number of people we can fit in the room.
